What is ITO Glass?

ITO glass is manufactured by depositing indium tin oxide in variable proportions onto the surface of numerous glass substrates.

The coatings allow specialised processes to take place including electrical conduction transmittance resulting in resistances which can be tailored to the application required.

ITO Glass is a prominent material used in research and industry, due to its high optical transparency and a broad range of uses.

What is ITO Glass used for?

Short answer – Quite a lot! The material is utilised in many industries including consumer appliances as plasma displays for LCD TVs, touch screens for mobile phones, lamps, sensor coating for cameras, and within computer components. ITO heater glass is used in the military, naval and aviation industries.

It is also used within the security industry, in anti-theft devices and safety alert systems. There are many applications in the medical industry too, such as custom lenses for microscopes and other medical devices including IVF Workstations.

In the Transport industry, ITO Glass is used for depth detection for car brake lights, road lighting, and helps aid defrosting within aircraft cockpit windows. It is utilised in Military Command/Control Screens, Ground Vehicles & Periscopes.

Diamond Coatings are industry-leading suppliers and manufacturers of ITO Glass and Optical Coatings. Founded in 2002, we can provide customised solutions to non-linear problems.

Several ITO coatings are available for glass including:

ITO Glass slides

Created for research and development laboratories, they are available in different grade thicknesses and sizes. They can be utilised for de-icing applications, solar cell fabrications, and biological devices such as cell culture substrates.

ITO Coated PET Films

PET films are used in liquid crystal devices to realign crystals cells. There are also used in electromagnetic shielding applications and touch screen devices, such as tablets and smartphones.

OLED Grade ITO Glass Sheet

These glass sheets are increasingly used in flat screen displays such as mobile phones, tablets, and digital cameras.

Glass and ITO Coverslips

Popular for use in microscopic slides, for keeping samples in place and protecting them from outside contact, as well as beam splitters in fluorescence microscopy which helps create a better image by using optical sectioning. ITO Coverslips are used across many research and development, medical and scientific applications.

Diamox+ and index-matched ITO Glass

Suitable for an extensive range of applications including infrared mirrors, circuit substrates, and anodes for organic LEDs (OLEDs).

Custom Diamox ITO Coating Glass

Utilised for optical windows for space applications, conductive object carriers and cover glasses, and EMF/EMI/EMC/RFI and HF shielding glass. As well as optical, ITO coated glass can be used as Heater Windows, which are designed to demist rapidly.

Diamond Anti Reflective Cinema Glass

Specifically designed for cinemas so that the optimum experience can be experienced when viewing film media with a high visible transmission (typically 96% average from 450 – 650nm).

Diamond Coatings Anti Reflective Coating for Glass

Can be utilised for aircraft instruments, refracting telescopes, LCD TVs as well as consumer devices such as binoculars and cameras.

Conductive Paint – Uses and Applications

Conductive paint contains nanoparticles of metal such as copper or silver or malleable soft metals that are highly conductive or will support a higher current transmission, within a solvent-based liquid. The nanoparticles are thin to maintain the wetting and binding feature quality of regular paint.
