Commercial Touch Screen Manufacturers
It’s probably a fair comment to say that you simply could not get through a day without using a touch screen in some aspect. Compared to maybe 15 years ago, the rise in touchscreen usage has been nothing short of phenomenal.
The obvious starting point would be your smartphone or tablet, but touch screens are being utilised in so many other areas of life; public facing applications such as touch screen self-serve checkouts, ATM cash machines and ticket booths. And in more industrial environments such as medical and military devices, factory displays and so much more.
But you know this already right? There is a good chance you searched ‘commercial touch screen manufacturers’ as you are looking to align with a company to produce these for you. Well, you’re here and we would like to think you have found what you are looking for.
Diamond Coatings Commercial Touch Screen Manufacturers
We are a well established global supplier of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) coatings. In fact we have been in operation for 20 years now. ITO is an optically clear substance that is also electrically conductive and is used in production of both capacitive and resistive touchscreens. Diamond Coatings supply a range of optical coatings, including ITO and Anti Reflective coatings.
Capacitive and Resistive Touchscreens – What’s the difference?
Generally capacitive screens are used predominantly for personal use – screens for phones, tablets and PCs. Resistive screens are used in more public facing applications and those that face demanding environments, such as military devices in the field.
A capacitive screen works by registering human touch on the screen – a phone’s glass screen has a thin coating of ITO, which identifies a touch by the change in charge across the screen. These screens will also pick up gestures such as swipes.
A resistive screen from Diamond Coatings also uses ITO, but in a different way. The screen is plastic rather than glass with a layer of ITO sandwiched between another layer of plastic. The touch is registered with downward pressure on the screen which enables to the ITO layer to identify the location of the touch.
Resistive Touchscreens
Resistive screens enable a completely variable X-Y detection of the touch point (capacitive screens tend to have fixed areas to touch). Diamond Coatings can provide a complete, ready to use, X-Y resistive screen, including all patterning, bonding and connections. We can also additionally offer fully shielded touchscreens.
Capacitive Touchscreens
Capacitive touchscreens have a higher visible transmission (around 90%) than resistive touchscreens (around 70%). Using our specialist index matching technology, we can make capacitive touchscreens with the same visible transmission as uncoated glass or plastic.
Diamond Coatings can provide anything from development to production volumes in both resistive and capacitive touch screens. The screens can be provided with anti-glare and other finishes as required and produced on glass or plastic (flexible or rigid). Available in sizes up to 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm.
