The Beneficial Qualities of Diamox ITO Transparent Conductive Coatings

Diamox ITO transparent conductive coatings offer beneficial qualities that make them the preferred solution for numerous applications across many different global industries. Here are some of these qualities.

Diamox ITO transparent conductive coatings offer beneficial qualities that make them the preferred solution for numerous applications across many different global industries. Here are some of these qualities.

Diamox ITO Coatings and Their Beneficial Qualities

The first beneficial quality of our Custom Diamox and Index-Matched Diamox+ coatings is their versatility: both coatings can be vacuum deposited in varying sheet resistances* and thicknesses onto substrates including glass, polycarbonates, acrylic and polyester films.

What’s more, our flexible handling system allows not only to coat flat sheets in sizes up to a maximum of 1000mmx1000mm but also shaped and diverse injection moulded parts. We can also supply fully machined plastic and glass parts, as well as offering coating of free issue parts.

*Sheet resistances range from 2.5 Ohms/sq. for coatings on glass and 10 Ohms/sq. for coatings on plastic substrates up to 1,500 Ohms/sq.

The second beneficial quality and major advantage over other doped metal oxide (DMO) types our Diamox coatings offer are their much higher (in comparison to said doped metal oxides) electrical conductivity and optical transparency, with typical peak light transmissions at wavelengths from 525 to 600 nm for a 20 Ohms/sq. coating being:

  • Custom Diamox: 87% on glass and 81% on polycarbonate
  • Diamox+ Index Matched: 92% on glass and 84% on polycarbonate

Combined with their versatility, this makes Diamox ITO transparent conductive coatings the perfect answer to the demands of countless optoelectronic and electronic applications.

This is further added to by these coatings’ ability to inhibit and minimise, even eliminate the effects of EMI, ESD and RFI interference with shielding effectiveness rates of 26dB and 58dB at 1GHz and 1MHz respectively – a quality that obviously serves to significantly improve both the reception and the overall performances of electronic devices.

Then, of course, there is the hardwearing durability of these coatings, which not only offer good chemical stability and resistance to penetration by moisture/water but are also resistant to cracking, crazing, delaminating, flaking and peeling.

Both coatings do, in fact, show no evidence of optical degradation or reductions in coating adhesion or sheet resistance when tested to MIL STD, which involves exposure to salt spray, thermal cycling and humidity cycling.

These qualities obviously make Diamox coatings ideal for applications intended for frequent, heavy use and/or use within harsh environments.

Last, but by no means least, Diamox coatings can, unlike numerous other DMO coatings, also be precision etched. Permitting creation of the finest, most intricate conductor paths and compliance with even the most complex client patterning requirements, this is, of course, of significant benefit for all sorts of 21st Century consumer, industrial and commercial applications – especially when considering today’s constant pressure to produce ever lighter, ever smaller devices.
