Scratch-resistant Durable Plastic
A sweeping statement, but plastic is used in so many applications; it would be futile to try and list them all here – a cheap material that is easily machined that is mass produced. Lightweight and relatively robust, there is one issue with plastic – it scratches.
With the technology available today and improved manufacturing processes, plastic that is susceptible to scratches can become a thing of the past.
Scratch-resistant Durable Plastic
Both polycarbonates and acrylics now have the option of a hard coat application available, making them less scratch resistant than before. This is just one of many coating options available from Diamond Coatings, a well-established coatings company based in the UK who supply a global customer base, spanning many industries.
Our hard coat options significantly increase the strength, scratch/chemical resistance and subsequent durability of applications exposed to heavy use and/or harsh environments.
Scratch-resistant Polycarbonate
A form of thermoplastic polyester, Polycarbonates come with some interesting features including temperature resistance, impact resistance and enhanced optical properties. Different grades of polycarbonate with properties such as flame retardant are also available. The hard coat option from Diamond Coatings really does offer a more scratch resistant Polycarbonate.
Scratch-resistant Acrylic
Acrylic is a very useful clear plastic that is often used as an alternative to glass. This is often the case due to its weight advantage, but it is also a viable option as it can be more easily formed into various shapes. Already a harder substrate that Polycarbonate, it can be further strengthened using the hard coat option – we can also coat with an anti reflective option, ideal for glass substitutions.
Other Coating Options from Diamond Coatings
We are a specialist coatings company offering many different coating options deposited onto substrates including glass, plastic and PET films. These include the hard coat mentioned above, as well as anti reflective and ITO coatings. ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) is a clear substance that is also electrically conductive. There are many uses for ITO coatings, including touchscreen devices, heated windows and EMI/RFI shielding filters to name just a few.
As we mentioned, we have a global customer base, with an additional processing plant based in Arizona, USA. We have worked with companies large and small, as well as servicing the medical and military industry. An ISO9001 accredited company, we strive to offer the very best, both internally and externally – meaning our customers always receive the most optimum of services.
