ITO Coated PEN Film

Highly transparent (with a total light transmittance of 87%; haze 2%) and smooth-surfaced, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film has excellent heat stability (thermal shrinkage at 150 deg C×30 mins. is MD/TD 0.1% and 0.0% respectively; at 200 deg C×10 mins., thermal shrinkage is 0.3% for both MD and TD).

It has a tensile strength of 220 MPa (MD and TD) and tensile elongation percentages of 130% (MD) and 110% (TD) and good chemical resistance to:

  • Ketone
  • Halogenated Hydrocarbons
  • Greases and Oils
  • Aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Alkalis
  • Alcohols
  • Acids (diluted; good to poor for concentrated acids)

Low moisture permeability and ease of processing make this semi crystalline polymeric material perfect for use in electronic, optical and optoelectronic applications. The good optical transparency of ITO Coated PEN film also means it is a material with the potential to be used as a superstrate or substrate within the heterostructure of solar cells.

ITO Coated PEN Film

Electronic and optoelectronic applications typically require PEN film to be electro-conductive. This is achieved by sputter application of indium tin oxide (ITO). The resulting ITO coated PEN film has all the optical, mechanical and electro-conductive properties required to make it an ideal solution to many industries’ requirements.

Diamond Coatings ITO Coated PEN Film

Diamond Coatings supply sheets (standard size A4, 125 micron thickness) of ITO coated transparent conductive PEN film (Dupont Teijin Teonex Q 65HA; properties as stated above) suitable for a variety of optoelectronic and optical applications, including:

  • OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes)
  • PVs (photovoltaic cells)
  • TFTs (thin-film transistors) and more

In order to cater for a variety of industry/customer specific requirements, standard sheet resistivities include:

  • 15 ohms/sq
  • 50 ohms/sq
  • 100 ohms/sq

Teonex Q51 PEN film is available on request
