What Are Interactive Touch Films Used For?

Interactive touch films are exactly what you might expect – a thin film that allows for interactivity via touch: essentially turning a surface into a touchscreen. That’s very awesome, right?

A thin PET film can become electrically conductive when ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) is introduced to it. Depositing a thin layer of ITO onto the film makes it conductive whilst remaining transparent – perfect for producing interactive displays that require touch functionality.

These thin films can then be applied to glass or plastic screens, resulting in that screen becoming touch enabled. In fact, the film could even be applied to a retail store window to deliver a customer experience like no other.

That’s one example of an interactive touch film in use, but where else might these films be used?

Interactive Touch Films Applications

The possibilities are simply endless. Interactive touch films are used in a variety of applications and environments including gaming and vending machines, public transport stations (for informational purposes) and ticket kiosks within those same areas.

A digital whiteboard might also utilise an ITO touch film, as well as more industrial applications, such as factory usage. Simply put, any area that might benefit from touch enabled screens could use an interactive touch film to achieve this.

One great thing about interactive touch films is they can be multi-use, meaning more than one person can use at the same time. This can lend to a better user experience and can be used to display offers or services relevant to the user or users.
